The simple answer is
I'm not getting good results using existing software
This could well be because I am dumb and stupid
But then I would at least want to ask
Why do I need to be smart to use VRM?
You might answer "you just do"
And back that up with "why not be smart"
But this ultimately leads to an answer along the lines of
The Fall of Man, Original Sin, and Because I Say So
My answer might be
because all the existing VRM software sucks
Everything that can be rendered is a surface
So, if you are looking at something in your model
And you can see it
It's a surface
